Who We Work With

We choose to work primarily with owners and executives of professional service businesses which are either: successful but not reaching their full potential in certain areas, or entrepreneurs who are unsure how best to build a new business.

We like to help business owners and executives who are serious about transforming their existing business or building a remarkable new enterprise.

W prefer to work with people who understand that they need to step away from their existing ways of doing business and invest effort, time and a little money in themselves and their management team. They know that by making this investment, they will receive a large payback in terms of future results. Typically, they are already successful people who can point to projects, functions or businesses which work well, but who see room for improvement.

There are always problems, or at a minimum, areas to improve on. Whenever one problem is resolved or minimized, another one becomes significant or even painful. The better the manager, the more they are aware of what can benefit from improvement – and that is where we come in.

Do any of the following statements resonate with you?

“I started this business a year ago and have seen some good revenues from word-of-mouth and referrals, but I don’t have a plan for generating a steady stream of new customers”

“We wrote a 60-page business plan when we were in fundraising mode, but it has been gathering dust ever since we launched the business. That plan isn’t relevant to how the business has developed and where it is now. I’m too busy to write a new plan. What do I do?”

“We don’t have a method for tracking our progress as we grow. Our accountant puts together financial statements three or four months after the fiscal year end, but by then we’re already well into the next year and its too late to change the direction of the whole year. We need a plan to work from and a way to monitor progress against that plan.”

“Our strategies for success just aren’t well defined, or at least they don’t tie in with our financial objectives. We tend to change our strategies every few months rather on a whim, and that is frustrating for subordinates and managers who don’t feel that there is a lot of direction.”

“This company excels at management by crisis, but we aren’t proactive. We aren’t steering the business towards objectives because we don’t have a clear statement of what those objectives are”

“There is no mechanism in this business for holding divisional managers accountable for performance because we do not have a concise statement of what they are supposed to achieve.”

If these or similar problems hamper your business, you may want to work with us. Not every potential client will be successful working with us. We prefer to only work with clients for whom we can deliver results.

Clients are likely to be successful working with us if…

You have high standards of honesty and integrity. If you tend to take ethical shortcuts or will do anything to make a dollar, we’re probably not for you. If you want to play the business game at a high level, we’d like to help you succeed.

You know that it takes time, application (sweat!) and resources, including money, to improve. There are no quick and easy fixes. You aim to run your business on agreed plans, budgets and schedules – in other words, scientifically. This doesn’t mean that a “seat-of-your-pants” or inspirational style is never appropriate, just that it can’t be the normal way of doing things.

You are very knowledgeable in your field. Our services are effective in many different fields rather than being specific to one industry. We help you make the most of the knowledge and skills you already have.
